The blue
flame / blue fire is a flame
that is created from a tinge of liquid sulfur
in the Ijen crater.
The heat of the crater is combined with
sulfur creates the
blue flame effect on the surface. This phenomenon
can be seen just before
sunrise. Therefore, visitors must make
the climb, at least starting
at 01.00 from Paltuding.
Climb about 1,5 hours to the top of Ijen Volcano then go down to the crater 45 minutes. Visitors can see blue fire from 10 meters, but when the sulfur smoke come to us, its smelling storng, so mask and flash light is the important thing to bring there.
